50 SEEDS! Harvested in 2010 Five years ago I planted some really beautiful Almost Black/Dark Maroon Hollyhock. Up till now I've been giving the seeds away to friends. They all now have some growing in their yard. So I decided to share them with others. They are a mixture of large single flowers, half, and double flowers. The easiest way I found to grow them was on the windowsill. They love the peat pellet seedling grow kits. I've also had great success putting two inches of potting soil in a clear plastic cup. Wet the potting soil till moist. Place a few seeds on top and cover with a bit of potting soil 1/4 -1/8 inch. Put clear plastic wrap over the cup to seal. It takes 2 to 3 weeks to sprout. Loosen the plastic wrap when the plants are an inch or so high. When the roots start to wrap around in the cup it's time to plant outside. They are easy to grow and will bloom the second year from seed. If you remove the spent flower heads, they may re-bloom in the fall. Sun to part shade. Perennial Harvested in June 2010 May be started during the fall & winter months and planted out in the spring if your house stays warm during the winter.
